Artist Statement

Yosuke Nakagawa’s photographs consider the quiet distances that shape urban life: between people and the city, presence and absence, light and shadow. Moving through streets, stations, and other shared spaces, he photographs reflections, barriers, and fleeting human traces. His images attend to the surfaces and boundaries through which a place is seen, and to the sense of a person who may be near, passing, or already gone.

都市の暮らしを形づくる静かな距離——人と都市、存在と不在、光と影のあいだ——を見つめています。街路や駅などの共有空間を歩きながら、反射や隔たり、束の間に現れる人の痕跡を写しています。場所の見え方を形づくる表面や境界、そして、誰かが近くにいること、通り過ぎること、去った後に残る気配に関心があります。

Biography

Yosuke Nakagawa is a photographer based in Japan. Working primarily in Tokyo and its surrounding cities, he photographs the subtle distances that emerge between people, urban space, and light. Moving between digital and film photography, his work focuses on gestures, reflections, barriers, and traces of human presence.

Yosuke Nakagawaは、日本を拠点に活動する写真家。主に東京とその周辺の都市を歩きながら、人、街、光のあいだに生まれる微細な距離を撮影している。デジタルとフィルムを行き来しながら、仕草、反射、遮蔽物、そして人の気配の痕跡に目を向けている。
